About Us (and why I'm writing a blog)

Once upon a time I thought I was a pretty good writer.  I also thought I had amazing style.  Of course, those were the days when I wore overalls (Birkenstocks, anyone?) and definitely thought all poems had to rhyme.

I'm not really a writer.  At least, not a published one.  There was the one time that I got suckered into publishing a little poem in this giant anthology of mediocre poetry and then couldn't even get a copy unless I paid them $34.99 - or something like that.  I did, and then I was so embarrassed - because, let's face it, that book wasn't headed to a bookstore anytime soon - that I promptly put the thing in a box and hid it under my bed.

Which leaves us with the question...why start a blog?

There are my kids, Natalie (4 years), Daniel (3 years),

And Silas (1 year).

I love them.  I think they're pretty sweet.  And I want to share them with the world.

There are the art projects.

Friendly House Christmas Tree Ornaments

There are the activities. We explore.  And it's so easy to help your kids explore - sometimes all it takes is a magnifying glass and a walk through the pet store.

I think we have some fun stuff going on around here.

Neighborhood Alphabet Scavenger Hunt

There are my own crafty adventures.

I made this:

And this:

And from time to time, I might show you something like this:

And there's real life - which I love to expound on. Everything from a hard trip to the grocery store to why I think working is good for usIt's not always perfect or pretty or polished...but it is real.

And that's the thing.  Before you go any further, I want you to understand that we are not a perfect family and we do not always have things in order.  The house is messy.  The play room is chaotic.  The kids complain.  And argue.  And cry.  And bounce off the walls...on purpose.  Why am I telling you this?  Mostly to encourage you: if we can get this stuff done, so can you.

I like to drink coffee. Do you like to drink coffee? Wouldn't you like some right now? Mmm...I would. Let's make some.

    1. Cool, thanks! Kind of nice to know that other people are noticing the things we write. I can't wait to pass this along - I'll work on it today :)

  2. Hi Sarah,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the name of yours and your photos are beautiful. I wouldn't describe myself as a religious person but I found your quote from Galatians 6:4-5 really touching and will take that away with me.

    1. Of course :) I'm glad you liked that - it's good for me, too (which is why I have it posted right now). I compare myself to others way too often...and I always come up short.

    1. Yeah, I think those things were like, required if you grew up in the 90's. And thanks about Silas - we love it, too! Glad you stopped by :)
